What is IEE?

An Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) is a preliminary environmental study carried out to identify the potential environmental impacts of a proposed project and to determine whether a more detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required.

For many medium-scale projects, an approved IEE is a regulatory prerequisite for environmental clearance. IQS prepares IEE studies and supports the clearance process.

  • Early screening — identify likely impacts at an early stage.
  • Regulatory step — a prerequisite for many project clearances.
  • Decision basis — determines whether a full EIA is needed.
